helloooo world

Hey!  It’s been a few years away of creating, travelling, and isolating. All last year I was on sabbatical and was in Rome, waiting the pandemic out. The result? Lots of new work, and new performances in the offing.  Last Spring I was also a Bogliasco Fellow in Liguria, Italy.

In about a month, I’m very exciting to release a new album of instrumental works, called Regina Variations.  Written over a decade, the album is all variations on God Save the Queen/My Country Tis of Thee, but for odd instruments, from prepared piano, gayageum, harmonium, to the Bang on a Can All Stars. The album is at the mastering stage and will be available online and in vinyl. Thanks to the fabulous cast of instrumentalists and singers, who recorded under pandemic conditions.

Moreover, I finished an evening-length work, 10 Transcendental Etudes, for 6 performers. Like previous work, this combines sampling and physical theater. We did a workshop of a quarter of the piece last summer with Ashley Tata and performers Paul Pinto and Hai-Ting Chinn, at Bennington. More extensive workshops in NYC TBA, soon.
